"The Bike's Invented - Ride Orange!" was the curious name given to a bizarre scheme giving the residents of Vilnius the chance to try out cycling as an environmentally friendly way of getting from A to B.
The action started on June 8, when 400 orange bicycles branded with the inscription "Vilnius City Municipality" turned up at special orange stands at different locations around the center of Vilnius. Anyone interested was welcome to pedal to wherever he was going free of charge.
After their journeys, riders were asked to leave the bikes at the nearest orange stand. It is planned that another 600 bikes will be let loose on the streets soon. It was hoped that the scheme could continue until the winter and then resume next summer. On June 8, virtually the entire population of Vilnius between 10 and 14 years of age descended on the bikes and rode most of them around for hours. By the end of the weekend, 300 bikes had disappeared and 25 were broken.

Lėtu tyrinėtojo tempu klausausi retro stiliaus Kauno gatvių.
Kiekvieną kartą tauro miestas sužavi mane savo kulturos daugiasluoksniškumu, savitumu, Austrijos,Vienos secesijos ornamentais.
Ši kartą dėmesį patraukė memorialinės lentos, bylojančios apie aukštą sostinės kultūrą praeityje. Išties vaiduokliškas pojūtis, kai prabangųs pastatai, praradę savo funkciją tėra tik ženklas nurodantis apie praeitį.
Tai siekia net tokius absurdiškus atvėjus, kaip pvz.: tuščioje transporto žiedo saloj, stovi memorialinė lenta "Šioje vietoje stovėjo pastatas, kuriame 1932-1938 buvo įsikūrusi Latvijos ambasada"
Atkreipiau demesi, kad vos ne kas antras pastatas turi po memorialinę lenta, o kai kurie net po 4-5.
Čia gyveno Salomėja Nėris, o jos kaimynas buvo operos dainininkas Kipras Petrauskas. Kipras kaip visada mėgo patriukšmauti, tad neris ne vieną savo eilėraštį palikdavo nepabaigta.
Stasys Girenas grįžęs iš skrydžių po pasauli buvo pasibaisėjęs kraujo dėmėmis laiptinėje, nes jo kaimynas habilituotas medicinos daktaras, profesorius chirurgas Petras Mažulis, darbą nešdavosi namo. Istorija interpretuojama...

Vaikščiodamas bandau indentifikuoti miesto morfologijos ribas. Perejęs skersai išilgai laisvės alėją ir lygegriačias gatves bei Žaliakalnį įsimintinas detales (na gerai - tik mažą dali tu detalių) pateikiu po lj-cut'o
Trakų gatvės gyvenamieji Bauhauso stilistikos pastatai parklupdė mane ir net privertė riebiai nusikeikti moters akivaizdoje >)
